Open University Malaysia Alumni Association
Who We Are
PAOUM is a registered alumni association (Societies Act 1966, Reg. No: PPM-027-10-08072025) dedicated to connecting alumni with OUM, strengthening their network, and harnessing support for the growth of the university and the wider community.
Our Story
Founded initially in 2009 and officially registered in 2010, PAOUM was led by its first president, En. Hasshim Abdul Karim. The association was dissolved in 2012 but was successfully revived in May 2025 during the OUM Alumni Founding Meeting. Nine protem committee members were appointed, with Dr. Shamsul Zuraimi Bin Mat Shah (Doctor of Education) as the Protem President. PAOUM was re-registered under the Societies Act 1966 on 8 July 2025.
Our Mission & Objectives
PAOUM aims to:
- Connect & Unite: Build strong bonds among OUM alumni across generations through social, professional, and welfare activities.
- Support OUM: Enhance the university’s brand and development through active involvement in promotions, sponsorships, and industry partnerships.
- Share Knowledge: Create a platform for exchanging experiences and insights among alumni, students, and the community to promote lifelong learning.
- Engage Strategically: Encourage alumni participation in university programs as strategic partners in academics, research, and innovation.
- Give Back: Lead charitable and community initiatives that create positive societal impact aligned with OUM’s values.
- Sustain Our Vision: Generate funds to support alumni programs, student welfare, scholarships, and social projects.
